Benefits of private pay: Allows for the maximum level of privacy, as your healthcare information is not shared with any third parties and a diagnosis of a mental health disorder is not always necessary. You are in complete control of your mental health care.
About insurance:
If you are seeing or have ever seen a mental health professional, it is very likely that you have been given a diagnosis of a mental health disorder. This includes any diagnosis that can be found in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (published by the American Psychiatric Association). This is especially true if you are using your health insurance to pay for mental health services. Most insurance companies require a diagnosis in order to pay for your treatment, even if you are not mentally ill. One way to keep a mental illness diagnosis from being sent to your insurance company, should that be one of your concerns, is to ask the mental health provider NOT to bill your insurance company.

Clients are seen by appointment only. Sessions are 50 minutes in length. EMDR sessions may occasionally exceed 60 minutes.

If you are unable to keep an appointment, I require at least 24 hours advance notice. Providing less than 24 hours notice of cancellation will result in being charged the cost of the missed session.
